Who I am

I have spent more than four decades proving that a single voice can express many callings. Known throughout Northeast Ohio as the longtime announcer and Program Director of FM 107.3 The WAVE, I spent 23 years on the air introducing listeners to smooth jazz—earning a reputation as a trusted voice in the genre, someone artist reps still call before new music reaches radio.

My expertise extends well beyond the booth: I have served on the Board of Directors of the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, consulted with Tri-C JazzFest for more than 15 years, and currently sit on the festival's Host Advisory Committee. Musicians I’ve interviewed are routinely surprised by how deeply I know their catalogues—and many remain in touch with me to this day.

Alongside my broadcast career, I pastor and preach with the same improvisational spirit I brought to radio—earning me the nickname "JazzPreacher." My preaching style mirrors the music I love: rooted in tradition yet alive in the moment. That same instinct for connection has shaped my work as a community leader and trusted advisor to artists, pastors, congregations, and organizations alike.

Today, I bring that full range—broadcast expertise, pastoral wisdom, and decades of relationship-building—into my consulting work, helping organizations and individuals find their own voice with purpose and authenticity. Whether on stage, in the pulpit, or at the table, my gift has always been the same: making people feel heard, understood, and inspired to move forward. Two callings, one voice.

What People Are Saying

"Working with Mark has always been a first-rate experience. He’s helped me launch careers of artists who have become main-stays in contemporary jazz: Brian Culbertson, Rick Braun, Mindi Abair, and Lindsey Webster, to name a few.  Through his efforts—both on the radio and in creating and promoting live events—fans of this music have had the chance firsthand to discover and support some of the most talented and creative artists anywhere."

Bud Harner
Harner Music, Inc.

“Working so many years with Mark Ribbins when he was program director for WNWV Cleveland, I got to know him on a much deeper level than that of music client. I had the opportunity to get to know the depth of his character and professionalism. I always enjoyed our music chats, and I could really tell of his love for the music and sharing it with his community. His honest, open, and straightforward approach always left you with an on-the-table understanding of where he stood and what he believed in. He is a top shelf, stand-up guy who has a deep passion and love for contemporary jazz and trying to build community around it.”
